Orillia Secondary School girls racing to OFSAA championships

The Orillia Secondary School girls dominated at last week's Track and Field Central Regional meet in Oshawa

The Orillia Secondary School girls dominated at last week's Central Regional track and field meet in Oshawa to earn a berth to the OFSAA championships this week in London Ontario.

Novice hurdler Lexa McCord won the field in the 300m hurdles and is seeded 6th in this week's meet. 

Lexa has broken two invitational meet records this season in this event. 

Grade 9 student Hailey Devine also became a regional champion in the 80m novice girls' hurdles.

Both of these athletes also qualified in the novice girls 4x100m relay with fellow Grade 9 athletes Sarah Ivany, Lauren Kohler, and Ava Wara.

In the Junior division, Grade 10 student Ellaina Murdoch is returning to OFSAA for a second time. She qualified in both the 400m and 800m races. 

Last year Ellaina was 5th in the Novice girls 800m race. 

OFSAA Track and Field takes place June 6-8 at Western Athletic Field in London, Ontario.
